Dave Van Ronk: Songs for Ageing Children

I don't know why this beloved album is so hard to come by, and seems not to have been put on CD, but here it is in a renovation from a well used LP. There are moments of minor distortion that were in the grooves of the LP I had available to me, but it sounds surprisingly good, all things considered, and it will do the job until a better quality transfer from the original source becomes readily available. Posted in two parts as flac files compiled into a .rar archive and, for those who wish it, not wanting to deal with WinRAR or FLAC files, a single zipped archive of 320kbps MP3 files.

Enjoy!

  2. Your quite welcome, and thanks for letting me know you liked it. It seems to be the most popular download on the site. Baffling, really, why it's not available. And it really is awesome. Listening to it again and again, trying to get it to sound as good as I could, was very, very enjoyable. And it now has a permanent place on my MP3 player.

  5. A million thanks for posting this gem. I have the vinyl, in bad shape, no doubt, but finding it online is almost impossible.

  6. Thanks a million for posting this, I've been looking for it on torrent or rapidshare forever. I actually own it on vinyl, however, it suffers from terminal scratch disease, I only hang onto it for the cover and old time's sake, I guess.

Do you happen to have the compilation "Van Ronk", which is a combination of "Inside Dave Van Ronk" and "Dave Van Ronk, Folksinger". I own this on vinyl as well, but scratched. Great set of folk songs, with Van Ronk's perfect accompaniment, on banjo, guitar and autoharp, unlike "SFAC" it's just Dave solo, but a really fantastic album none-the-less.

  10. That listener in Lexington is ever so grateful you've done this! I've been searching—intermittently—for years, nay decades, for Van Ronk's deep, low, mournful version of Joni Mitchell's "River." Now having the entire album on my iPad has made me happier than you'll ever imagine.

    Thanks, Lawrence Austin.
